HP Color Inkjet CP 1700 and HP Business Inkjet 2600 Printers - Install, Enable, and Use the HP Auto Duplex Unit

The printer can automatically print on both sides of the paper with an optional printing accessory called the HP Auto-Duplex Unit, or Duplexer. The HP Auto-Duplex Unit, part number C8219A, is included with the HP Business Inkjet 2600dn and HP Color Inkjet CP 1700d, but it can be purchased separately for the HP Business Inkjet 2600 and HP Color Inkjet cp1700 printers. When the HP Auto-Duplex Unit is installed, the rear manual-feed is unavailable.

Install the Auto-Duplex Unit

  1. To remove the manual-feed rear-trough from the back of the printer, press the buttons on both sides of the rear-trough and pull the unit out of the printer.

  2. Install the HP Auto-Duplex Unit into the same slot in the back of the printer previously occupied by the rear-trough.

Enable the Duplexer for the HP Business Inkjet 2600

After the HP Business Inkjet 2600 PCL 5 or PostScript® printer driver has been successfully installed, follow the steps below to enable the Duplex option.

NOTE: The following steps are necessary only when using the HP Business Inkjet 2600 PCL 5 or PostScript printer drivers. The HP Color Inkjet cp1700 series printers do not require the following steps.

PCL 5

Follow the steps below to enable the Duplexer when using the PCL 5 printer driver.

Windows 95, 98, Me, NT 4.0, and 2000

  1. Click Start , Settings , and then Printers .

  2. Right-click the appropriate driver and then select Properties .

  3. Select the Configure tab.

  4. Click the Duplexing Unit box to place a check mark in the box.

  5. Click OK to save the changes and close the Properties window.

Microsoft® Windows XP

  1. Click Start , Control Panel , and then Printers and Faxes .

  2. Right-click the appropriate driver and then select Properties .

  3. Select the Configure tab.

  4. Click the Duplexing Unit box to place a check mark in the box.

  5. Click OK to save the changes and close the Properties window.

PostScript

Follow the steps below to enable the Duplexer when using the PostScript printer driver.

Windows 95, 98, Me, NT 4.0, and 2000

  1. Click Start , Settings , and then Printers .

  2. Right-click the appropriate driver and then select Properties .

  3. Select the Device Options tab.

  4. Click Duplexing Unit and then choose Installed from the drop-down menu.

  5. Click OK to save the changes and close the Properties windows.

Windows XP

  1. Click Start , Control Panel , and then Printers and Faxes .

  2. Right-click the appropriate driver and then select Properties .

  3. Select the Device Options tab.

  4. Click Duplexing Unit and then choose Installed from the drop-down menu.

  5. Click OK to save the changes and close the Properties windows.
