HP LaserJet Print Cartridges, Safety Information About Toner

Introduction

This document provides safety-related information about toner contained in HP print cartridges for use in HP LaserJet printers. For additional safety information, including product certifications, refer to the printer User's Guide .

Background

HP LaserJet print cartridges are safe when used as intended. HP toners undergo rigorous testing and strict quality control procedures to ensure product safety. In accordance with the assessment criteria for dangerous substances in the European Union (Directive 67/548/EEC, as amended), HP toner formulations are not classified as dangerous and do not require precautionary labeling. In this regard, HP toners are not classified or labeled as toxic, carcinogenic, sensitizing, corrosive, mutagenic or dangerous for the environment.

Skin contact

HP toners are not skin irritants or sensitizers in accordance with applicable regulations and standards set by the European Union and United States. Therefore, incidental skin contact with HP toners should not cause skin irritation or allergic response. Eye contact

HP toners are not eye irritants in accordance with applicable regulations set by the European Union and United States. Therefore, incidental eye contact with HP toners should not cause significant eye irritation. Inhalation

HP toners are not harmful, toxic, carcinogenic, or sensitizing by inhalation in accordance with applicable regulations and recognized standards. As with any nuisance dust, toner inhaled in large amounts may cause upper respiratory tract irritation.
