HP Color LaserJet and LaserJet Series Printers - AutoCAD 2000 Windows Driver Installation and Configuration


This information allows AutoCAD 2000 for Windows users to produce successful plots on the HP Color LaserJet and LaserJet series printers.


Windows driver information for AutoCAD 2000

HP recommends that AutoCAD 2000 for Windows users select the following internal driver: Windows Printer/Driver.

NOTE: There are no drivers written specifically for AutoCAD 2000 from Hewlett-Packard. With the Windows driver installed, it is possible to print raster images or print on different paper sizes (for example, Legal). To find out about drivers written especially for AutoCad 2000, visit Autodesk’s Web site at Non-HP site .

The System Printer, when configured for dithered output, provides high quality gray scales or shading.


Configuration of AutoCAD 2000 for Windows using System Printer ADI 4.3

The System Printer ADI 4.3 driver within AutoCAD for Windows is an internal driver configuration that uses the default printer driver selected within the control panel within Windows.

  1. At the AutoCAD command prompt, type CONFIG .

  2. Select PLOTTING TAB .

  3. Select "Use as Default Output Device " and press OK .


How to select paper size when configured for system printer

When configured for System Printer, AutoCAD will default to the paper size selected in the Control Panel within Windows. If the size is to be changed within AutoCAD, follow these steps:

  1. Type PLOT at the command line in AutoCAD.

  2. Select PLOT SETTING TAB within the Paper Size and Paper Units box.

  3. Select the proper paper size and units to be printed, then, choose OK .


How to shade when configured for the system printer driver

Shading with the System Printer driver is dependent on the original configuration of the driver. A check mark in the "Enable dithering " box when editing the Plot Style Table will assign a dithered pattern to each colored pen.


How to select pen widths when configured for the system printer driver

  1. At the command prompt, type PLOT .

  2. Select the PLOT DEVICE TAB .

  3. Within the Plot Style Table (Pen Assignments), select Acad.ctb .

  4. Select Edit .

  5. Select the TABLE VIEW TAB .

  6. Select the desired pen number (1.255 ) and modify the Line weight value; select OK .
