HP LaserJet 2100 Product Family - How to Download and Install the PCL6 Driver for the HP LaserJet 2100, 2100M and 2100TN

NOTE: From the Program group, run the HP LaserJet 2100 Uninstaller and uninstall the PCL6 driver before installing a different version of the PCL driver.

Downloading the most recent version of the PCL 6 driver

  1. Go to to download the most recent version of the PCL 6 driver.

  2. Under the Quick jump to heading click the desired version of Windows Printer Driver.

  3. Select the PCL 6 drive.

  4. Select Save this program to disk and click OK .

  5. Under Save this program to disk choose a location to save the file, note the location, and then click Save .

  6. When the download is complete, the file will appear in the directory specified in the previous step.

To open the file double-click the file, click OK , and then click Unzip . After the file has completed self-extraction, click OK then click Close .


Installing the PCL 6 driver

  1. Click Start , select Settings and click the Printers folder.

  2. Double-click Add Printer .

  3. The Add Printer wizard will open. Select My computer then click Next .

  4. Select LPT1 (whether directly connected or networked) and click Next .

  5. Click Have Disk .

  6. Click Browse .

  7. The Locate file window will come up saying a: is not accessible . Click Cancel .

  8. Under Look in select the folder where the file is saved.

  9. Highlight HPLAOUT.INF and click OK .

  10. The Install from Disk window will reappear, click OK .

  11. Select HP LaserJet 2100 Series PCL 6 and click Next .

  12. Select the Replace existing driver option and click Next . (This window will not come up if the uninstaller was used).

  13. Select Not Shared and click Next .

  14. Select Yes and then click Finish . If the printer is networked, complete steps 15 through 17.

  15. Click Start , select Settings and click the Printers folder.

  16. Right-click the new HP LaserJet Series PCL 6 printer icon and click Properties .

  17. Under the Port tab change from LPT1 to the network location then click OK .
