Troubleshooting the printer installation

If the top status light is on, the printer is ready to print. If the status lights are not on, check the power cord and the USB cable connections.

CAUTION: Always unplug the power cord before connecting the USB cable to the printer. Otherwise, the printer may be damaged.

Hardware setup verification

Verify that the printer is turned on

When the printer is connected to a grounded power source, the printer should continuously rotate for approximately six seconds. If the printer does not seem to be receiving any power, check the following:

  1. Make sure the product is plugged in.

  2. Check that the power cable is plugged into the correct power source (110v or 220v ac).

  3. Ensure that the fuser's levers are in the up position.

  4. Verify that the printer door is closed.

Verify that the READY status light is illuminated

When the printer is successfully turned on, the green READY status light is illuminated and the printer is ready to process a job. If the READY light does not illuminate, check the following:

  1. Make certain that the power cables are snugly seated into the printer.

  2. Ensure that the printer is plugged into a known good power source. Plug directly into a power outlet, where possible.

Verify that the product prints from the computer

Connect the cable pod to the printer and the USB cable to the computer. Use a word-processing application to send a print job to the printer.
