HP LaserJet 1200 Product Family - Cannot Install Print Software, Print, or Scan over the Network With Internet Connection Sharing Installed
ISSUE: An HP LaserJet 1220 cannot install the printer software, scan, or print over the network when ICS (Internet Connection Sharing) is installed on one of the computers on the network.
SOLUTION: Check the following:
If the TCP/IP status always reads, "Initializing", check to see if any computers on the network have Internet Connection Sharing (ICS) installed. If so, follow these steps:
If the HP Jetdirect is looking for a DHCP server to assign it an IP address, the ICS DHCP service may not successfully complete this task, and could leave the HP Jetdirect in an "Initializing" state. Once the computers are disconnected, the HP Jetdirect should reach its default IP address of 188.8.131.52 after a few minutes. At that point it can be configured with an IP address using Telnet, or the printer software can be installed and used to configure the HP Jetdirect.
