HP LaserJet 1150 and 1300 Series Printers - Installing the Print Driver Using Network Printer Wizard

  1. Uninstall the software, if applicable.

    1. Insert the software CD into the CD-ROM drive.

    2. Select Start , Programs , HP LaserJet 1150_1300 , then Add/Remove from the Windows desktop. DO NOT restart the computer when prompted.

  2. Delete the HP LaserJet 1150 or 1300 folder located under C:\program files\hewlett packard\ .

  3. Open the Printers folder or the Printers & Faxes (Microsoft Windows XP) folder, select File and then Server Properties from the menu bar. Select the Drivers tab, highlight any listings for the HP LaserJet 1150 or 1300, and then select Remove . Close the Printers/Printers & Faxes folder.

  4. Empty the Recycle Bin on the computer desktop.

  5. Download the PCL6 printer driver for the HP LaserJet 1300 or the PCL5e printer driver for the HP LaserJet 1150 from the HP Web site (http://welcome.hp.com/country/us/en/support.html).

  6. Once the file is downloaded, double-click the file to unzip the files to folder C:\LJ1300 .

  7. Install the OEM print driver using the Microsoft Windows Add Printer Wizard.

    1. Select Start , Settings , then Printers .

      - OR -

      Select Start and then Printers and Faxes to open the printers folder.

    2. Double-click the Add Printer icon in the printers folder and proceed with the OEM install.

    3. Select Local Printer when asked if the printer is a network or local printer, and uncheck the box next to "Automatically detect my plug and play printer ."

    4. Select LPT1 on the Ports screen. The printer will be installed first as a local port and then configured to function over the network.

    5. Select Have Disk on the Manufacturers screen and then click the Browse button.

    6. Browse to the C:\LJ1300 folder, highlight the LJ1300p?.inf file, and then click Open .

    7. Follow the rest of the screens in the installer, accepting the default settings; however, do not print a test page when the install process completes.

    8. Once the installation is complete, configure the network port on the printer if the printer is connected to an HP Jetdirect card.

      1. Go to the Support & Drivers Web page URL (http://welcome.hp.com/country/us/en/support.html) on the HP Web site, select the Download Drivers & Software option, type Network printer wizard in the for: text box, and press Enter on the computer keyboard to locate the Network Printer Wizard.

      2. Download the Network Printer Wizard software.

      3. Double-click the file to install the software and configure the network port for the printer. Select the following options during the install process; otherwise, accept the defaults:
        • Select a driver from a list of drivers this PC knows about.
        • Show only currently installed drivers.
