HP Photosmart Printers - Set up a Bluetooth-enabled Notebook or Desktop Computer

These instructions apply to the following HP Photosmart printer models:
  • 325, 330, 375, 380
  • 420, 422, 425, 428, 475
  • 8150, 8450

Use the information below to install and activate the drive that will allow printer functionality with the Bluetooth wireless printing system.

Requirements

The following items are required to use the Bluetooth wireless printing system:
  • Bluetooth enabled notebook or desktop PC (Microsoft Windows 2000, XP)
  • HP Photosmart printer driver already installed
  • HP Photosmart printer software CD
  • The optional HP bt300 Bluetooth hardware accessory, Q3395A

Printer setup instructions

NOTE: Be sure to install the HP Photosmart printer driver before setting up the Bluetooth printer connection. Steps to setup the printer may vary between Bluetooth software programs and Windows operating systems.
  1. Click Start , then control panel .

  2. Click printer and other hardware , then bluetooth devices .

  3. Open My Bluetooth Places/Bluetooth devices program from your desktop. Click the Bluetooth icon.

  4. If the HP Photosmart printer is not listed in the Bluetooth devices window, then click View Devices in Range / Search for Devices .

  5. Double-click the HP Photosmart printer you want to setup.

  6. Follow the onscreen instructions to complete the printer setup.

    NOTE: If prompted, you may need to insert the Photosmart printer software CD. Browse the folders and locate the folder for the hphp2k13.inf file (<drive name>\<language abbreviation> \ drivers \ win2k_xp). Then follow onscreen instructions.

Printer setup instructions for SPP (Serial Port Profile)

NOTE: Install the HP Photosmart printer driver before setting up the Bluetooth printer connection.
  1. Click Start , Settings , and Printers .

  2. Double-click the Add Printer icon.

  3. Click Next at the Welcome to the Add Printer Wizard screen.

  4. Select Local printer in the Local or Network Printer dialog box.

  5. Select the COM port assigned to the Bluetooth wireless connection.

  6. Click the Have Disk button and then click Next .

  7. Load the HP Photosmart printer software CD.

  8. Locate the hphp2k13.inf file in the desired language folder.

  9. Highlight the hphp2k13.inf file and click Open .

  10. Click OK to close the Install from Disk dialog box.

  11. Highlight the appropriate HP Photosmart printer model series.

  12. Click Next to continue.

  13. Select Keep existing driver and click Next .

  14. Enter a name to identify the printer being used and click Next to continue.

  15. Indicate whether the printer will be shared and click Next .

  16. To confirm that the printer is installed properly, print a test page.

  17. Click Finish to complete the driver installation.

Troubleshooting

If the Notebook or Desktop PC is unable to identify the printer, follow the steps below.

NOTE: The following procedures are not applicable to the Photosmart 420 series printers.

Plug the HP bt300 Bluetooth Wireless adapter into the camera port on the front of the printer

Make sure the HP bt300 Bluetooth Wireless adapter is plugged into the camera port on the front of the printer. The light on the adapter will flash when the adapter is ready to receive data.

Set the Bluetooth accessibility to Visible

Bluetooth Accessibility may be set to Not Visible. Follow the steps below to change this setting to Visible.
  1. Press menu to access the printer menu.

  2. Select Bluetooth , then press OK .

  3. Select Accessibility , then press OK .

  4. Select Visible to all , then press OK .

Change the security level

The Bluetooth security level may be set too High. Follow the steps below to change the security level.

  1. Press Menu to access the printer menu.

  2. Select Bluetooth , then press OK .

  3. Select Security level , then press OK .

  4. Select Low , then press OK .
