Color LaserJet 3000, 3600 and 3800 Series Printers - Numeric Error Messages

Most control panel messages are status messages that display information about the HP Color LaserJet 3000, 3600 and 3800 series printer's current operation. In addition, the printer displays warning messages, error messages, and critical error messages. This document contains a brief description of each message category and sections that explain each numerical control panel message and recommend what action needs to be taken to resolve the error.

NOTE: Not all control panel messages are Numeric, Click here to view the document titled HP Color LaserJet 3000, 3600 and 3800 Series Printers - Alpha Control Panel Messages to view Alpha specific messages.

Status message

Status messages reflect the current state of the printer. They offer information about normal printer operation and no interaction is required to clear them. They change as the state of the printer changes. Whenever the printer is ready, not busy, and has no pending warning messages, the status message READY is displayed if the printer is online.

Error messages

Error messages communicate that some action must be performed, such as adding paper or clearing a paper jam. Some error messages are auto-continuable; if AUTO CONTINUE=ON the printer will continue normal operation after displaying an auto-continuable error message for ten seconds.

NOTE: Any button pressed during the ten-second display of an auto-continuable error message will override the auto-continue feature and the function of the button pressed will take precedence. For example, pressing the CANCEL JOB button will cancel the job
