HP Color LaserJet CM1312 MFP Product Series - Windows Firmware Update Utility Readme
NOTE: The Color LaserJet CM1312 series printers share firmware code, so the enhancements/fixes are similar for both products. There are, however, separate upgrade utilities for the CM1312nfi and the CM1312. Be sure you have the correct document for the product being updated or an error may be displayed.
These changes below, are implemented in firmware date code 20080530
Issues previously corrected and included in this release of date code 20080530:
Microsoft® Windows Instructions for printer firmware update
This utility is for use on Windows 2000, XP, 2003 and Vista.
The HP Color LaserJet CM1312 printers must be in a READY state as shown by the LCD display on the control panel and remain powered on during the entire firmware update process.
Depending on the speed of your PC, the firmware update process may complete on the printer, before the progress bar on the screen completes.
Flash Firmware update process
NOTE: IMPORTANT - Before the process starts: Turn the printer off and then back on at this time only to clear main printer memory.
Make sure the firmware being updated is for the correct LaserJet product. For example, if you are updating the Color LaserJet CM1312 printer, the firmware file should be for the respective model numbered devices. If the incorrect version of firmware is downloaded to a device, the error Fatal Error 9 will appear on the control panel (preventing the incorrect code from being installed). This error can be removed by rebooting the device. The device will retain the version of FW it had. The user should retrieve the correct version of firmware from HP.com and use the Firmware Upgrade Utility to update the device with that code.
