Replacement Printer Instructions for HP OfficeJet Pro 8000 Printer Series

When HP replaces your defective product, some accessories or parts need to be transferred from the defective product to the replacement product.

NOTE:
  • Some optional accessories might not be included with your product model.
  • Keep any optional accessories that you bought separately.

Instructions

  1. Prior to replacing or disposing of your defective unit, follow these instructions to ensure the right accessories are removed.

    CAUTION: Please do not keep the Output Tray but ship it alongside the defective unit.
    1 - Output tray

    a) Printheads. Make sure that the unit is plugged in and turned on before removing the printheads.

    • Open the cover door. If the printer carriage does not move to the left automatically, then press the Resume button until the printer carriage moves to the left.

    • Lift the printhead latch.

    • Lift the handle of the printhead and use it to pull the printhead out of its slot.

    • Close the printhead latch.

    • Close the cover door.

    b) Print Cartridges.

    • Gently pull open the print cartridge cover.

    • Remove the print cartridges by grasping them between your thumb and forefinger and pulling it firmly toward you.

    • Close the print cartridge cover.

    Then, unplug the printer and keep the following accessories:

    c) 2nd Paper Tray

    CAUTION: Keep only the 2nd Paper Tray and ship the Input /Output Tray Assembly alongside the defective unit.

    d) Duplexer Accessory, for automatic two-sided printing.

    e) Power module

    f) Power cord

    g) USB cord

    h) Ethernet cord

    i) User Manual and CD

  2. Transfer the accessories mentioned above from your defective unit to the replacement product.

  3. Apply power to the replacement product and test all the product functions.
