HP EliteBook 6930p Notebook PC - Removing and Replacing the Primary Memory Board

Introduction

This document is provided to assist in removing and replacing the Primary Memory Board for the HP EliteBook 6930p Notebook PC.

Minimum skill level

The End User requires no hardware-specific training to replace the defective part. The End user should have familiarity with system hardware and software requiring repair.

NOTE: Part numbers are subject to change.

The replacement part number will vary depending on the Primary Memory Board that is being replaced. If a part is listed as "Yes" under "Requires Return" then the defective part needs to be returned to HP. Click here for more information on returning parts to HP .

Primary Memory Board removal

  1. Review the safety considerations before performing the steps listed below by clicking on the following link:

    CAUTION: Failure to comply with the precautions could result in damage to your product or loss of data.
  2. Remove the battery. Click here for instructions on how to remove the battery .

  3. Remove the keyboard. Click here for instructions on how to remove the keyboard .

  4. Push both arms outward simultaneously to release the memory board to the spring tension position.

    CAUTION: When handling a memory board, use care to prevent touching the memory chips on the board. Touching the memory chips could damage or destroy the memory. Click here for instructions on how to handle a memory board .
  5. Grasp the primary memory board by the edges and pull gently to remove it.

  6. Place the primary memory board in a static dissipative bag.

Primary Memory Board replacement

  1. Remove the primary memory board from the static dissipative bag.

  2. Locate the alignment slot and align it to the empty board receptacle.

  3. Grasp the memory board by the edges and push gently to replace it.

    CAUTION: When handling a memory board, use care to prevent touching the memory chips on the board. Touching the memory chips could damage or destroy the memory. Click here for instructions on how to handle a memory board .
  4. Press the primary memory board down to latch the arms.

  5. Replace the keyboard. Click here for instructions on how to replace the keyboard .
