This article provides detailed installation instructions step by step of the HP Offline Bundle for VMware ESXi 4.0, 4.0 U1, 4.0 U2, 4.1 and 4.1 U1.

To install this bundle we need first to install a VMware CLI application that is going to let us run the command from a different computer routing the bundle to the server we want to update.

Put the server in maintenance mode, open vSphere and right click the server, then choose maintenance mode:

  1. Please go to the following website:

Click here to access the technical article Non-HP site at

NOTE: The above-mentioned URL will take you to a non-HP Web site. HP does not control and is not responsible for information outside of the HP Web site.

Create an account to download vSphere CLI 4.0 Update 1 for example. Go to download tab then create the account to access the different downloads.

  2. Install the VMware vSphere Command-Line Interface. Windows Installer for windows which is 46MB. Install this application on a computer running windows that has access to the server via the network.

  3. This is going to install the VMware vSphere CLI, It can be found going to Start > VMware > VMware vSphere CLI . This is just a command line tool.

  4. Once VMware tool is installed proceed to install the HP bundle. Download the bundle from the HP website.

Visit the HP website, search for "HP ESXi Offline Bundle for VMware ESXi", select the desire product.

  5. Download the file: hp-esxi(version 4.0, 4.0 U1, 4.0 U2, 4.1 or 4.1 u1)-bundle(version).zip , then copy the file to the following folder C:\Program Files\VMware\VMware vSphere CLI\bin . This will make easier the installation process.

  6. After copying the file, go to start > VMware > vsphere CLI to open the command line application, this is going to open the command line at this directory:

    C: \Progam files\VMware\VMware vsphere CLI

  7. Once in there, type the following: --server x.x.x.x (This is the IP of the server that has esx installed on it. The user can use server name too.) --install --nosigcheck --bundle hp-esxi(version 4.0, 4.0 U1, 4.0 U2, 4.1 or 4.1 u1)-bundle(version).zip , which is the name of the file.

    Here is a small example:

  8. User name and password will be required. After introducing those requirements the installation will begin, this is going to give a notification message when it is done.

Below is the example of what must be seen:

NOTE: In this example, the file is renamed from to that is why it shows --install -- nosigcheck --bundle .

In case the download update file is in a different folder, point to the specific path, like in the example below:

Where the update is in the folder C:\Users\profileName(ekevin)\Downloads .

Also refer the installation instructions of the bundle in the HP website.
