DESCRIPTION

Network traffic may halt intermittently during network I/O activity on the HP ProLiant servers and network adapters listed in the Scope section below, when running Solaris 10 10/09 or 10 9/10 with NetXen firmware version 4.0.544 and driver version 2.10. When this occurs, the network adapter will stop responding and cannot be pinged.

Note: This has been observed when using ssh, scp, sftp, ftp, or rlogin.

SCOPE

Any of the following HP network adapters and HP ProLiant servers running Oracle Solaris 10 10/09 or 9/10 with NetXen firmware version 4.0.544 and driver version 2.10:

Affected Servers

  • HP ProLiant DL370 G6 Server
  • HP ProLiant ML370 G6 Server
  • HP ProLiant DL580 G7 Server
  • HP ProLiant DL585 G7 Server
  • HP ProLiant DL980 G7 Server

Affected Network Adapters

  • HP NC375i Integrated Quad Port Multifunction Gigabit Server Adapter
  • HP NC375T PCI Express Quad Port Gigabit Server Adapter
  • HP NC522SFP Dual Port 10GbE Gigabit Server Adapter
  • HP NC524SFP Dual Port 10GbE Module

RESOLUTION

The network adapter unresponsiveness has been corrected in NTXNxge Version 2.12, which can be located for download using the following navigation:

NTXNxge Driver Download

  1. Go to

    http://www.hp.com/

  2. Click Support & Drivers .
  3. Click Drivers and Software .
  4. Enter "NC375T" or "NC522SFP" or "NC524SFP" for the product name and click Search.
    Note: Searching on "NC375i" will not locate the firmware.
  5. Select the appropriate adapter on the following page.
  6. Select Solaris 10 for x86 Systems for the operating system.
  7. Click Driver - Network .
  8. Download and install * RECOMMENDED * HP NC-Series NetXen Driver for Solaris 10 (x86/x64) Systems Version 2.12 (or later).

Until NTXNxge Version 2.12 can be installed, network traffic flow can be recovered by rebooting the server.
