HP Deskjet 1050 All-in-One Printer Series (J410) - Documents Partially Print during Copying

Issue

When you try to make a copy, the product does not print the whole document or image.

Causes

  • Static interference

  • Loose USB cable or power cord connection

  • Fingerprints, smudges, lint, or dust on the scanner glass

  • Dirt or debris on the scanner lid

  • Scratched or damaged scanner glass

  • Poor internal connections

  • Dirt or debris inside the product

  • Damaged or faulty scanner bulb or parts

Preliminary step

Follow these steps to print a self-test report from the control panel.

  1. Load plain white paper in the paper tray.

  2. On the product control panel, hold down the Power button (), and then press the Cancel button () once.

  3. Release both buttons. The self-test report prints.

  • If the test page prints correctly, continue to the next solution.

  • If the test page does not print correctly, the steps in this document will not resolve your issue. Instead, see solutions for print quality issues. .

Solution one: Clean the All-in-One

If the scanner glass or the white underside of the lid has fingerprints, smudges, lint, dust, or other debris, this can slow performance and affect copy and scan quality. To resolve this issue, clean the product.

  1. Before you begin, gather the following materials:

    • Several clean, soft, lint-free cloths.

    • Mild glass cleaner.

    CAUTION: Use only glass cleaner to clean the scanner glass. Do not use cleaners that contain abrasives, acetone, benzene, or carbon tetrachloride. These substances can damage the product. Avoid isopropyl alcohol (rubbing alcohol) because it can leave streaks on the glass.

  2. Press the Power button () to turn off the product.

  3. Disconnect the power cord from the back of the product.

  4. Open the scanner lid.

  5. Spray a clean, soft, lint-free cloth with mild glass cleaner.

    CAUTION: Do not spray the glass cleaner directly on the glass to avoid damaging the scanner.
  6. Wipe the scanner glass and the white underside of the scanner lid with the dampened cloth.

  7. Dry the scanner glass and the underside of the scanner lid thoroughly with a clean, dry cloth to prevent spotting.

    NOTE: Do not use paper-based wipes or tissues that can leave fiber residue.
  8. Close the scanner lid.

  9. Reconnect the power cord to the product, and press the Power button () to turn on the product.

  10. Try to make a copy.
  • If these steps resolved the issue, you do not need to continue troubleshooting.

  • If the issue persists, continue to the next solution.

Solution two: Plug the product directly into a wall outlet

Plug the product directly into an electrical outlet to make sure that the power source functions correctly.

  1. Disconnect the power cord from the rear of the product.

  2. Unplug the power cord from any power strips or surge suppressors.

  3. Plug the power cord directly into an electrical outlet.

  4. Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the product.

  5. Press the Power button () to turn on the product.

  6. Try the task again.

    If the issue persists, try a different electrical outlet.

  • If these steps resolved the issue, you do not need to continue troubleshooting.

  • If the issue persists, continue to the next solution.

Solution three: Reset the All-in-One

Follow these steps to reset the product, and then try the copy job again.

Step one: Reset the product

  1. Press the Power button () to turn on the product.

  2. With the product turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the product.

  3. Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.

  4. Wait at least 15 seconds.

  5. Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.

  6. Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the product.

  7. If the product does not turn on by itself, press the Power button () to turn it on.

Step two: Make another copy

Try to make a copy again.

  • If these steps resolved the issue, you do not need to continue troubleshooting.

  • If the issue persists, continue to the next solution.
