Replacement Printer Instructions for HP ENVY 4500 e-All-in-One Printer Series

Introduction

When HP replaces your defective unit, some accessories or parts need to be transferred from the defective unit to the replacement product.

NOTE: Please be aware that:
  • Some optional accessories may not be included with your product model.
  • Any optional accessories bought separately should be kept.

Instructions

Prior to replacing or disposing of your defective unit, follow these instructions to ensure the correct accessories are removed from the defective unit.

  1. Make sure that the unit is plugged in and turned on before removing the print cartridges.

    Ink cartridges

    To remove the ink cartridges:

    • Open the cartridge access door. Wait for the print carriage to move to the right side of the printer.

    • Lift up each of the cartridge tabs.

    • Remove the cartridges from the slots.

      CAUTION: Do not touch the copper-colored contacts or ink nozzles. Touching these parts can result in clogs, ink failure, and bad electrical connections.
    • Lower each of the cartridge tabs.

    • Close the cartridge access door.

    NOTE: If the cartridges are not going to be inserted in the replacement printer immediately, store them at room temperature inside a rigid sealed plastic container or a cartridge protector. Store the color cartridge with the nozzles DOWN and the black cartridge with the nozzles UP . This will help prevent the ink from drying out.

  2. Unplug the HP ENVY e-All-in-One printer and keep the following accessories:

    a) Power cord

    b) USB (Universal Serial Bus) cable

    c) Product manuals and CD

  3. Keep the accessories mentioned above to use with the replacement product.

  4. Power on the replacement product and test all product functions.
