HP SureStore 2000LP and 1000S SCSI Hard Disk Drives - C3324/C3724(WC) and C3325/C3725(WC) Jumper Settings

Figure 1: C3324/C3724(WC) and C3325/C3725(WC) jumper diagram

NOTE: The following configurations assume the PCA component side faces up. Refer to configuration illustration for the pinset locations.

Write Protect
Open: Drive looks at Mode Page header and responds accordingly: default = NOT write protected.
Shorted: Drive is forced into the Write Protect mode.
2
SCSI-1 / 2
Reserved
Leave Open
Mode Select Page 23H determines whether the SCSI – 1/2 pin is active or not.
When the SCSI-1 / 2 pin is active, and if the SCSI-1 mode is required, the jumper must be placed sideways. Refer to Detail A.
Open = Drive looks at Mode Page 09H, byte 8, bit 4, and responds accordingly: default = SCSI-2.
Shorted = Drive is forced to respond as a SCSI-1 device.

SDTR/UA
Mode Select Page 23H determines whether the SDTR/UA (Unit Attention) pin is active or not.
When active, Mode Select Page 23H determines whether the pin functions as SDTR or Unit Attention. Refer to Detail B.
If the SDTR function is active:
Open = inhibit drive initiation of SDRT message
Shorted = enable drive initiation of SDTR message at Power-On and Reset.
If the SDTR function is active:
Open = inhibit drive initiation of SDTR
Shorted = enable drive initiation of SDTR message at Power-On and Reset.
If the Unit Attention function is active:
Open = enable Unit Attention
Shorted = inhibit Unit Attention

LED Driver
An LED requiring 10 ma may be connected across pinset 4, or driven from the SCA connector, but not both.

Remote Start
Shorted: Drive will not spin up until Initiator sends Start Unit Command.
Open: Drive will spin up automatically as Power-On.
Note: Remove Start is wire-ORed to pin 38 of the SCA connector. Installing the jumper will place a ground on pin38. The function should be set from either the jumper of from pin 38.

Sync Spindle
Note: Pinsets 7 has no effect if Sync Spindle Mode is disabled. Refer to Mode Page 04H.
Sync Spindle is Wire-ORed to pin 37 of the SCA connector. Installing the jumper will place a ground on jumper 37. The function should be set from either the jumper or from pin 37.
Upper pin of pinset 7 is sync output in Master mode, or sync input in Slave mode.

Unit Select 4
Note: The Unit Select pins are wire-ORed to pins 39 (U/S 1), 40 (U/S 3), and 79 (U/S 2), 80 (U/S 4) of the SCA connector. Installing the jumper will place a ground on these pins. The address should be set form either the jumpers of from the SCA connector.
